about me
I will be a photographer for the rest of my life, this is where I belong. Lo and behold, I had to get here first.
Bavaria (Southern Germany) born and raised, I am the daughter to a master tailor mother and a self-made entrepreneur father who were both creative and uncompromising. We are firm believers in taking chances and the thrill of entrepreneurship.
Turning 40, after years of big city and small island living abroad, a stint at Harvard, 20+ successful but partly empty years in the corporate world, I wanted to get to know a ‘different version’ of myself. It was the right time to hone in the artistic side of my heritage and I decided to become a student again with the clear vision and distinctive goal to become a photographer.
Photography allows me to express my creative side in a purpose driven life on my own terms, be my own boss (I am particularly good at bossing myself around all day), and make a positive difference in the lives of others at the same time.

I am a graduate of the renowned Rocky Mountain School of Photography, Montana, USA (love you guys!). Setting out to be the next shining light at National Geographic, the time in the U.S. unveiled my unique skill in photographing people. As thrilling as the humble life of a NG photographer is, I chose weddings, bumps, babies, children and families over expeditions and frostbites for one simple reason:
As a family photographer I create heirlooms for people spanning generations – and that is an incredible, cherished, and beautiful gift that makes people proud and happy, including myself.
I am a patient, observant people person with an eagle eye for composition and moments which makes me exceptionally good at photojournalistic work. I strive for a particular aesthetic of simple and unobtrusive, yet meaningful imagery.
I realized that this combination is my super power and decided to leverage it with all I’ve got. As a consequence, I specialize in black and white Documentary Family Photography. There’s no posing, no directing – these sessions at your home are real and honest and will be a true representation of your daily life as a family.
My basecamp is in rural Southern Germany, close to Munich, where I live with my brainy husband Mark. However, I extensively travel all over Europe to photograph cheerful families. Travel is part of the fun! So you want me to come to your beautiful corner in the world? Yes please! Don’t be shy and get in touch, I’d love to!

NO OTHER PICTURES TOUCHED US LIKE PETSY’S
We liked the fact that we felt we could do nothing wrong, even in rather ‘unpleasant’ situations. Our daughter Charlotte fell once and began to cry. That’s something we would rather avoid in a regular photo shoot, since it is not ‘perfect’. However, Petsy explained that these pictures are authentic and a realistic picture of our everyday life at that time. After this moment we let go completely and did not notice being photographed at all.
The photos are very special and precious to us, even though (or because?) we have already done some standard photo shoots with other photographers in the past (engagement, wedding, newborn, 1st birthday …).
No other pictures touched us like Petsy’s.
It is quite different to see yourself in your everyday environment ‘through the keyhole’. Family and everyday life are perceived in all its peculiarity and preciousness. In every single image we see happiness in the smallest detail. A documentary family photo shoot is special.
